Thermal camera core meets challenging imaging demands

[ad_1]

BAE Systems’ Athena 1920 thermal camera core now supports missions requiring 360° situational awareness, vehicle protection, and space-based surveillance. The uncooled 12-µm LWIR sensor delivers high-definition 1920×1200-pixel infrared imagery with minimal blur and sharp detail at night and in harsh weather.

Small and lightweight, the updated Athena 1920 has protective coatings that resist humidity, heat, and corrosion. For operation in space and high-altitude environments, the sensor provides redundant software-based single-event upset (SEU) mitigation to help reduce the impacts of harmful radiation. It also offers two frame rate options (30 Hz and 60 Hz) and frame synchronization for more image depth.

Image captures from multiple Athena 1920 camera cores running at the same time can be chained together for broader situational awareness, including real-time 360° sensing for a ground vehicle. Sensor hardening also enables broad-view night vision images from various platforms, including aircraft, unmanned aerial vehicles, and satellites.
