Bench setup simulates automotive lidar sensors

[ad_1]

Keysight’s E8717A lidar target simulator (LTS) allows designers to test and validate lidar sensors for autonomous vehicles. Offering a compact bench setup that saves test floor space, the E8717A simulates and automatically sweeps test targets at a defined distance and reflectivity.

With the click of a button, users can adjust target distance simulation and sweep from 3 m to 300 m and reflectivity simulation and sweep from 10% to 94%. The LTS base unit receives the lidar sensor signal via a remote optical head. It adds delay and attenuation to simulate the required distance and reflectivity and returns the signal back to the sensor.

A collaborative robot positions the lidar sensor to cover the desired field-of-view to be received by the stationary remote optical head. The E8717A supports all types of time-of-flight lidar sensors, including solid-state and mechanical rotating. It also permits 3D/real-world object simulation.

PathWave visualization and analytical software provides insight into lidar sensor performance, while PathWave Test Executive for Manufacturing automation software accelerates testing and throughput for volume production. The E8717A can be configured by Keysight with a collaborative robot or paired with a collaborative robot of choice.
