A multichip frontend transmit/receive module, the QPF0219 from Qorvo, is intended for wideband radar applications operating from 2 GHz to 18 GHz. Housed in a small 8×8-mm air-cavity QFN package, the QPF0219 packs a transmit/receive (T/R) switch, limiter, low-noise amplifier, and power amplifier.
To achieve optimal performance, the power amplifier and T/R switch are fabricated using GaN-on-SiC, while the limiter and low-noise amplifier are manufactured with GaAs. The QPF0219’s transmit power is 10 W saturated with power added efficiency of 20%, large signal gain of 13 dB, and small signal gain of 19 dB. Receive specifications include a noise figure of 4 dB, small signal gain of 14 dB, and P1dB output power of 21 dBm.
The QPF0219 frontend module is well-suited for electronic warfare, multifunction wideband arrays, radar, and communication designs. Samples and production quantities of the module are available from Qorvo and authorized distributors.
